The Manual

For my thesis I needed to identify lots of astronomical sources. Source Extractor was rapidly becoming the predominant tool to make a catalogs of the sources in an astronomical image.

Unfortunately, at the time there was little documentation for it and what there was, was not up to date. So I bundled all my notes, the official documentation and overheard advice into a single manual. This kept growing into what it is now.

Still the manual is made by a user, not someone who made the code. And since I needed to do other things (like write a thesis), even this manual lags a bit behind the latest SE version.

So if you find something missing or inaccurate, PLEASE just email me. I’ll be happy to update.
